Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for a Tool and Die Maker. The successful incumbent will be required to perform all work necessary to make/prove tools, jigs, dies, fixtures/gauges using various metals, alloys/plastics which require precise dimensions.

Essential Responsibilities

Work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts & other like information, oral orders & to required tolerances

Break down jobs to be carried out by employees related machining classifications

Work with supplier’s representative, setting up, modifying or adjusting special classifications

Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications

Determine machining operation to be performed, work in conjunction with Standards to establish final feeds & speeds

Plan best sequence of operations

Verify the planning & operational instructions originated by “Tool & Process Engineering “ prior to release to production

Measure/lay out work

Fit/Assemble machined metal parts

Position Requirements

3-5 year Manufacturing experience, preferably in Aerospace

Completion of 4 year or 5 year Tool & Die Making apprenticeship

Tool & Die Making Certification

Expertise in operating machines such as: boring mills, rotary head mills, jig borers, “Keller” machines, lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, grinders, etc. & attachments, precision measuring instruments, indicators, etc
