Off-Road equipment operator and instructor - Edmonton, Alberta

Working with the Operator/Training Manager and Service Manager the successful applicant must have good communication skills, ability to teach up to 8 students per class on all aspects of safe OHV operations, must possess a strong understanding of all off-road equipment and the off-road world. You should be able to operate equipment in all weather conditions and in all seasons. You should be able to self-diagnose issues and resolve them to the best of your abilities through strong troubleshooting skills while in the field. You will be required to deal with clients in a professional and courteous manner.

Prior industry knowledge of Canada Safety Council (CSC) instruction training and or WOLF institute instructor training required, and the right skill set and attitude is a must. The management team will train the right individual in all aspects of instruction, operations and basic maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruction of up to 8 adult students per class on Quads, Side by Sides, Argo amphibious vehicles, and snowmobiles.
  • Instruct all classes as per CSC criteria or with our in house WOLF training curriculum.
  • Be available to fill the position of Hagglunds Operator for multiple days as required.
  • Operation of the Hagglunds BV 206 in all terrain, weather and seasons
  • Care/Maintenance of Hagglunds BV 206 on a daily and ongoing process to ensure functionality while deployed.
  • Respond to client’s requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Safety of all passengers while on or near Pioneer Equipment.
  • Meet all timings requested by clients (as reasonably agreed to)
  • Maintain flexibility between positions as required.
  • Conduct other driving and assigned tasks when not instructing.

Requirements:

  • Have a positive and congenial attitude.
  • Be a self-motivated individual with the ability to troubleshoot and solve basic mechanical problems.
  • A competent operator who can choose off-road routes that provide the safest path of travel for the machines and the passengers.
  • Be self-sufficient with problem solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate cross country with GPS units, maps and compass’
  • Strong grasp of wilderness/wildlife awareness and survival.
  • Ability to travel throughout Western Canada.
  • Have the ability to be employed away from home for multiple days at a time.
  • A valid Driver’s License, clean abstract and experience pulling a trailer.
  • Current first aid certification
  • Current criminal record check
  • CSC instructor’s certificate on ATV, UTV, ARGO or Snowmobile is an asset.

Compensation:

  • Full benefit’s after 3 month grace period. Wages will discussed during interview process.
