Job Description

Under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor, the Quality Control Analystis responsible for performing Physical, Wet Chemistry, HPLC, GC and / or ICP testing on raw materials and bulks (in-house and purchased) within the Quality Laboratory.

Incumbent to display good technical skills with high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities:

· Ability to ensure that the following is conducted:

a) Testing according to relevant Standard Test Methods (STM)and / or Compendial methods

b) Perform wet chemistry and spectroscopy testing on all raw materials and bulk products (in-house and purchased) as required

c) Perform chemical identification of raw materials and bulk products in accordance to the approved analytical procedure

d) Operate NIR, FTIR, UV, Karl Fischer, Hardness Analyzer, Disintegration, Dissolution, HPLC, GC and ICP at a minimum

e) Prepare solutions and suspensions to perform essential laboratory procedures

f) Keep accurate and complete records of all tests performed in accordance to cGMP and GDP guidelines; as well as Data Integrity principles

· Report any OOS or deviation to supervisor immediately

· Assist with OOS investigations

· Adhere to all safety requirements in the QC Lab

· Clean laboratory glassware and equipment

· Other duties assigned by management

Skills:

  • Strengths in accuracy, technical writing and communication skills; initiative (“self-starter”) and creativity contribute to ability to work confidently either independently or within groups as daily requirements dictate; ability to work proactively to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations, MS-Office, familiarity with industry guidance, and abilities to evaluate and improve test procedures are definite assets

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year laboratory related experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or related environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/GDP and regulatory requirements is beneficial.

Education:

  • University degree B.Sc. (Chemistry), 2 year science diploma or combination of equivalent education and previous practical experience in a regulated industry setting a complement..

Physical Demands:

  • QC Laboratory based position
  • May be expected to sit and stand at lab bench areas for extended periods of time
  • May have to lift approx. 20 lbs. (i.e. a box of paper or chemical bottles)

Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish and shellfish)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
