The opportunity
EY currently has an opening for a Payroll Supervisor within our Core Business Services. You’ll work with a team responsible for the accurate administration and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll for EY employees across Canada.
Your key responsibilities
- Audit pay changes to ensure accurate calculations and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide timely response to inquiries from HR, Finance, Partnership Operations, employees, and retirees
- Provide coaching and support to a team of Payroll Coordinators
- Use excel to prepare documents for mass imports into the payroll system
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of a monthly leadership payroll and monthly pension payroll
- Timely processing of campus leave/return process
- Administer payroll changes for the for the extended vacation leave program
- Month-end payroll reporting and journal entries
- Oversee any off-cycle pay processing
- Participates in implementing new initiatives and projects
- Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset by identifying process gaps and opportunities for efficiency
- Process mobility allowances for inbound employees on assignment
- Supports all aspects of year end process
- Super user for payroll software, responsible for troubleshooting tickets with our payroll vendor
- Testing payroll software following system upgrades annual system rollover
- Quarterly reconciliation for pensionable and insurable earnings
- Maintain professional knowledge for legislative changes in jurisdictions across Canada
- Other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong team player with collaborative skills
- Capable of producing consistent, quality work product in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling payroll details and confidential correspondence
- Experience coaching and providing feedback to payroll staff
- Strong excel skills including vlookup, pivot tables and use of macros
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A minimum of four years post-secondary education in accounting, business, or related field
- 8 years of payroll processing experience
- Advanced computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated ability to compare, analyze and manage large data sets within spreadsheets
- CPM Designation from National Payroll Institute (formerly Canadian Payroll Association)
- In-depth knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce
Ideally you will have
- Experience processing complex multi-province payroll with 1000+ employees
- Experience in accounting/reconciliations of payroll liabilities accounts and knowledge of Payroll GL.
- Experience in system implementations and project work related to payroll
- Complex payroll knowledge i.e., Global reporting of salaries, expatriates and inbounds
