Algonquin Family Health Team - Full time Administrative Assistant

We are seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant at the Wellness Hub (located in the Canada Summit Centre) to provide administrative support on a priority basis to the interprofessional team, programs, and Nurse Practitioner (NP); as well as aid in the day-to-day operations as required to provide a caring, compassionate, and timely patient experience. Ability to perform all assigned duties while maintaining the highest possible standard of patient confidentiality.

Position Prerequisites:

· Post secondary diploma or degree in office or business administration and/or completion of a course in medical office management

· 5 years progressive experience in an administrative role in a healthcare setting is preferred

· Competent working knowledge of Medical Electronic Health Records (Telus PSS preferred) systems and common computer programs, including word processing and spreadsheets

Knowledge & Skill:

· Excellent communication skills including the ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using diplomatic and professional language

· Ability to discuss a variety of job-related topics, ability to respond to questions, and the ability to speak, interact and provide information to patients/family/caregivers of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds

· The ability to use sound judgment, and initiate action and take initiative, maintain safety, trust, and dignity for all parties

· Demonstrates ability to multi-task while providing consistent high-quality work

· Previous health setting experience, knowledge of medical terminology

· Ability to do ordering, inventory, and understanding of cold chain

· Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct correspondences/reports

· Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the Family Health Team

· Ability to take direction from the NP to deliver health care services.
